One of our members, The British Council, recently carried out a review of how equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) is funded and resourced across the organisation.

The British Council recently reviewed all roles that have formalised responsibility for EDI to see if their approach could be more efficient and/or effectively structured.  As part of this review, they sought to benchmark how other organisations resource EDI.

The results they have now released provide a really interesting insight on:

  • Whether equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) is resourced through a central unit and if so the number of staff, budget, location in the organisational structure and geographical location
  • If no central EDI unit, comments on how EDI is resourced
  • Aside from any central unit, the number of formalised roles that are considered specialists / leads in EDI
  • Main areas of EDI covered by organisational approach
  • The effectiveness of the organisational EDI resourcing approach
