enei attended the one year celebration of the AWE Pride which brought together industry leaders to discuss diversity and inclusion and to bring change.
AWEPride, AWE’s LGBT+ group, hosted an event to celebrate successes over the last year for inclusion in the workplace at Orion. The event included 30 representatives from AWE, Institute of Physics (IoP), Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng), Ministry of Defence (MoD), Rolls Royce, Cavendish Nuclear, enei and Prospect.
The day included a tour of the laser facility (“it’s an amazing facility” – IoP representative) followed by a workshop after lunch on “Inclusive values in professional registration” (see paper) which aimed at discussing what it means to be a chartered professional or fellow within the modern work environment. The result of this has helped organisations and Institutions when submitting proposals for embedding inclusivity in Institutions criteria, values and standards via the UK Specification consultation and review this October (https://www.engc.org.uk/standards-review-consultation).
