About the role

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service is seeking a dedicated individual to join its Inclusion Team and support the organisation on its vital Inclusion journey. This role is pivotal in fostering a positive, welcoming environment where current and future staff feel valued, heard, and empowered to be their authentic selves. As an Inclusion Advisor, the successful candidate will be a key resource for support, guidance, and awareness-raising within the organisation on all matters related to DEI.

The Inclusion Advisor will be instrumental in creating and nurturing a culture of inclusivity and respect. Responsibilities will include listening to and engaging with colleagues to understand their needs and experiences, championing DEI initiatives, and developing and disseminating educational opportunities to promote inclusivity. The Inclusion Advisor will also be tasked with managing their workload efficiently while collaborating with others, ensuring that DEI communications and events are effectively organised and celebrated.

Key skills essential for this role include excellent listening and interpersonal abilities to connect with colleagues at all levels, strong advocacy for DEI principles, and the capability to create and deliver educational content. Additionally, the Inclusion Advisor should be adept at managing tasks independently while working collaboratively, and have experience supporting and organising communications and events that highlight and celebrate Inclusion.
