This guidance offers a range of information, outlining the evolution of TIDE, detailing why it’s changing, what’s new, how to access the updated platform, and the importance of downloading your past reports.

Why is TIDE changing?

For several years, we have been supporting our members to measure their approach and progress on diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI), through TIDE, enei’s self-assessment evaluation and benchmarking tool. TIDE has supported our members to understand and develop their diversity practices to embed and sustain an inclusive workplace culture. DEI practices are always evolving, and we want to ensure that TIDE evolves with them, to bring the most value to our members and to support your continuing inclusion journeys.

The latest version of TIDE will consider the current and future state of DEI, looking beyond the Equality Act 2010 and guiding organisations to ensure all employees have the support and tools they need to thrive.

What is changing?

Building on the foundation of our existing TIDE framework, we are excited to launch a refreshed TIDE questionnaire. This enhanced version covers every aspect of workplace diversity, equality, and inclusion (DEI), including wellbeing, belonging, values, and organisational culture.

The updated questionnaire is designed to be more inclusive and adaptable, catering to organisations of all sizes and stages in their inclusion journey. Whether you’re just starting out or have already made significant progress, the new sections will provide valuable insights across the entire employee lifecycle. Alongside familiar areas like diversity data, strategy and planning, and recruitment, you’ll find new sections dedicated to inclusive leadership, values and behaviours, employee voice and engagement, and more.

In response to member feedback, we have removed the procurement section to better focus on the core aspects of DEI that matter most to your organisation. Additionally, we have included explanatory documents for each section, ensuring clarity and ease of understanding. We’ve also refined the questions and answer options to better align with the diverse terminology and structures of various organisations.

As with the current TIDE, the questionnaire will feature a combination of yes/no questions and multiple-choice options. Please note that no free-text responses are required.

TIDE will continue to evolve, with regular updates to reflect the changing landscape and help you stay up to date with the latest best practices.

How will I access the new platform?

When the 2025 submission cycle opens in October, you will receive instructions on how to access the new TIDE. Look out for regular updates and communications via the member newsletter and your account manager.

When can I access the new platform?

The new platform will be available for members to access when we launch the 2025 TIDE cycle in October. We will confirm the opening date soon.

What will happen to the old TIDE?

The current TIDE platform will close on Friday, 20 September 2024. Before that date, we  encourage you to log in to your existing TIDE account and download your past TIDE and TIDEMark reports.

How do I download my existing TIDE and Benchmark reports?

When you log into the TIDE system you will be able to view your organisation’s reports towards the bottom of your home page under “Surveys & Reports”. After opening you will be able to save any of these reports to your system as PDFs.

If you are new to TIDE and have not previously accessed the system, your account manager can provide login details.  This will allow you to check if your employer has previously participated in TIDE and to download and save any reports.

How long do I have to download my old TIDE reports and Benchmarks?

You will have access to the current platform until Friday, 20 September 2024. We will be sharing reminders in the lead-up to this date to encourage you to log in and download your reports.

How will my current or past TIDE scores relate to the upgraded TIDE platform?

The enhanced TIDE questionnaire includes revised and new sections and questions, so the answers and scores cannot be directly mapped to your previous TIDE scores.

The TIDE questionnaire is an evolution of the current TIDE, and you will be able to share many of the learnings and best practices your organisation has demonstrated in the past in your answers to the new TIDE questionnaire.

You will receive a new TIDE score in 2025, along with a customised report to help you understand more about where your organisation is performing well and where you can develop further to advance your organisation on its inclusion journey.

How long will it take to complete the new TIDE questionnaire?

This will depend on your organisation and how well you know the inclusive practices in place across the whole employee lifecycle. The average time for your first submission is likely to be around two hours.

For members who have completed the current TIDE questionnaire, you will need to factor in additional time for the 2025 TIDE cycle to complete the latest TIDE questionnaire from the beginning.

I’m new to TIDE, what do I need to do?

All enei members have free access to TIDE. You will receive regular communications via the member newsletter and your account manager covering the launch of the TIDE 2025 questionnaire in October and how to register to take part.

TIDE is a self-assessment evaluation and benchmarking tool designed to support you in understanding and developing your organisation’s diversity practices. You should be able to complete TIDE independently, drawing on the guidance that is provided to accompany each section. More information will be shared when the new questionnaire launches, including FAQs, a quick guide and a free webinar.

Will there still be TIDEMark awards?

Yes, each year, we will continue to benchmark all TIDE submissions and issue benchmarking scores and TIDEMark reports. Following the benchmark, we will award bronze, silver, and gold awards to the highest-scoring organisations.
