enei Launch Event 18 October 2011
Over 200 business leaders gathered for the launch of the Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion (enei), a new membership organisation formed to drive forward the inclusion agenda, share best practice and advice and inspire businesses to tackle labour market inequalities and inclusion issues in the workplace.
enei is the first and only not-for-profit UK-wide organisation that focuses on all diversity and inclusion strands and has the backing of major businesses such as BT and Core Assets Group. Representatives from both companies spoke at
the launch, and provided their views on the importance of improving business
performance in these areas.
Rt Hon David Blunkett MP to be Patron of enei.
He commented: "I am very pleased to be Patron of enei, a national forum supporting employers across all the equality strands. The network really recognises the importance for
employers to promote light touch but with best practice commitment to ensure that they develop pragmatic and innovative solutions to real business issues such as workplace representation and leadership. enei will allow employers to lead the way in inclusion as a matter of commercial as well as social best practice, helping to liberate talent and the development of personal commitment. I look forward to working with members to achieve their diversity and inclusion goals."
Trevor Phillips, Chair of Equality and Human Rights Commission
Trevor Phillips spoke of the timely introduction of a network for employers that covers all aspects of discrimination including issues beyond the Equality Act 2010.
