Equality Act Fails to Protect Against Sexist Dress Codes, Say MPs

Following the inquiry into sexist dress codes the chair of the UK Government Petitions Committee Helen Jones has said that the Government needs to provide “more information, more awareness and more access to justice”. The joint Women and Equalities Committee and Petitions Committee report into sexist dress codes published in January questioned the effectiveness of the Equality Act 2010 when it comes too different dress codes for men and women, with Nicola Thorp who triggered the review condemning the Act in its current form as too dependent on social norms when it comes to makeup and high heels.
