Current Provision Of Apprenticeships Fails Young Women

The Young Women's Trust has found that the current apprenticeship system is not an attractive proposition for young women compared with education, as the low apprenticeship wage does not compare favourably to the student benefits which are of more use to young women, who are more likely to have caring and other responsibilities.

The Young Women's Trust also found that although female apprenticeships outnumber males, they are almost absent from the STEM apprenticeships in careers which are more secure and higher paid.
