The Disability Employment Gap

The scale of the challenge presented by the Government's intention to halve the disability employment gap - currently standing at 32 percentage points - is examined in a new report from the Commons Work and Pensions Committee.

In addition to suggesting a number of changes to the support provided to the disabled by DWP/JobCentrePlus, the committee recommends that the Government builds on the outcome of its Green Paper by developing a Disability Employment Strategy and ensures that the relaunched Disability Confident initiative is effectively focused on changing employer behaviour.
