Prime Minister Retreats On Workers On Boards Pledge

The British Prime Minister Theresa May has climbed down from a pledge to require worker representation on company boards, telling the CBI Annual Conference that appointing employee representatives will not be mandatory. The retreat comes after criticism from business, including the the pledge's inspiration, the John Lewis Partnership, who pointed out that employee representation in isolation would be ineffective.
