HMRC Launches Specialist Team To Crackdown On Freelance Abuse

HM Revenue & Customs has announced that it is forming a new team to tackle employers who avoid National Insurance Contributions and employee benefits such as sick pay, maternity leave and pensions by incorrectly describing jobs as self-employed. The announcement comes as workers for Uber and Deliveroo are contesting their status as self-employed at Employment Tribunals.
