Caring Pressures Force Employees To Use Sick Leave
30 August 2016
A new study from benefits provider Willis PMI Group has found that one in six employees now have caring responsibilities, but are often unsupported by employers. The study found that 34% of employees with caring responsibilities had been forced to use sick leave in order to care for a dependent, with 32% using compassionate leave and 39% using annual leave. The study found only 21% of employees with caring responsibilities were granted flexible working arrangements, with 38% of employers having no carer support policies or intention to implement one, and 70% of employers failing to track how many of their staff have caring responsibilities.
